Paul Karlson - As a child Paul was greatly influenced by the music of the 50’s Rock & Roll Era. In the sixties as a teenager he formed a band called West End. His first gig was an 18th Birthday party in a garage and from that moment on he has been hooked. He has played in many bands throughout the decades playing all styles at various venues throughout Australia. As Paul says “ The older I get the more passion I seem to have for music, especially going back to the Rock & Roll roots of the 50’s and 60’s. The rest is history". |

John Silvester – I started playing guitar wheen I was 15. I instantly took to it and began to practice 40 hour per week. To use the Brian Adams line, I literally played the guitar 'till my fingers bled. I was fortunate to have been a student of the legendary guitar teaher Tony Colabro and therefore able to obtain an ecellent grounding in reading music, jazz improvisation and chord substitution. I went on to play for many years in Latrobe Valley function and cover bands such as Imagine, After hours and Breezin. My early influences were Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana an George Benson. Later, when I moved to Melbourne I continued to play in Cover/function bands such as Mi life crisis, the blues outfit blue rock and Acoustio Blues Duo The Johnson Brothers. One of my other main guitar influences is Tommy Emanual an have been fortunate, in recent years to be able to spend many hours studying and playing finger style guitar and a little blues with him. Playing with The Rockin Tones has allowed me to continue to appreciate and enjoy the vibe that a live audience generates. Especially since our audiences love to have such a good time! Hope to see you at our next gig . . .
